In spring 2024, UNISECON opened its first home on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Tucked inside the ground floor of a century‑old residence near Chinatown, the shop sits above our studio. This warm, mostly Asian neighbourhood allows our design and pattern‑making team to develop collections while engaging directly with clients—sharing the craft and stories behind each piece. The space honours Nina’s longing for her hometown food and serves as a bridge between Chinese heritage and the contemporary fashion world.
The two‑storey shop, once a beloved sandwich bar, retains its original wooden beams and French doors. A palette of white walls and reddish‑brown nanmu wood creates a calm, inviting atmosphere. Nina salvaged hand‑made stained‑glass lamps from early 20th‑century Shanghai villas; now repurposed as pendant and table lights, they cast a warm glow and remind us of the era when East met West. Picture rails inspired by Victorian and Edwardian houses allow garments to hang elegantly around the room. In the fitting room, a beaded glass curtain from Republican‑era China and a velvet iron chair—breathable in summer, cosy in winter—add a touch of nostalgia and comfort.
you feel the artistry of Chinese craftsmanship and experience the dedication behind UNISECON’s creations.
